WELCOME to the Eastern Massachusetts Women's Lacrosse Umpires Association website. EMWLUA is the  local organization responsible for training, developing and assigning umpires to officiate all public and private high school, middle school and youth girl's lacrosse game in Eastern and Central  Massachusetts.

Eastern Mass. is one of, if not the largest, local umpiring board in the country with approximately 270 members.  Our scholastic assignors assign games to approximately 210 private and public high school and middle school programs.  Our youth assignors work with over 150 towns scheduling thousands of youth game umpire assignments in April, May and June.

One of this board’s continuing challenges is recruiting and retaining new umpires to match the explosive growth of girl’s U-19 lacrosse.  We encourage everyone to set a goal to promote girl’s lacrosse umpiring, to recruit new people, and to mentor them along the process.  It is not necessary to have played women’s lacrosse to become an umpire of this game, we are however looking for individuals who are motivated and willing to run and who show the desire to put in the time and work necessary to keep advancing and developing their umpiring skills and knowledge.  All EMWLUA umpires are mandated by US Lacrosse to be evaluated through written testing and on-field assessment: therefore, as part of the women’s lacrosse umpiring certification there is an expectation that all of our EMWLUA members will continue to grow and advance their umpiring skills each and every season.

The 2016 schedule will be posted on our website http://www.emwlua.org/ when available.
